The Copa Paraíba was first held in 2006, with Campinense claiming the inaugural title after an unbeaten campaign. The tournament has returned to the Paraibano football calendar after a 14-year absence, and Campinense will seek a second crown this season.
The Paraíba Football Federation organized the 2006 competition for under-21 teams, with matches played home and away. Botafogo-PB, Desportiva Guarabira and Perilima joined Campinense in a tournament intended to keep teams active during October and November.
Campinense began with a 5-1 win over Perilima at the Amigão Stadium. Across six matches, the team recorded four victories and two draws, scoring 17 goals and conceding five. The results put the club clear at the top of the table and secured the title without a defeat.
The club’s 2006 results were: a 5-1 win away to Perilima; a 1-0 home win over Botafogo-PB; a goalless draw away to Desportiva Guarabira; a 2-2 home draw against Desportiva Guarabira; a 4-2 away win over Botafogo-PB; and a 5-0 home victory over Perilima.
For the current campaign, Campinense will compete with its professional squad under coach Dico Woolley. The club is also pursuing a place in next season’s Copa do Brasil, a competition it has not played in since 2023, when it was eliminated in the first round by Grêmio.
Campinense is scheduled to open its Copa Paraíba campaign against Nacional de Patos on November 8 at 5 p.m. at the José Cavalcanti Stadium. The single-round schedule also includes matches against Serra Branca, Treze, Esporte de Patos and Atlético-PB.
