Beira-Rio has become a source of strength for Internacional since Eduardo Baptista took charge. He has won both of his home games, against Corinthians and Botafogo, with Inter scoring five times and conceding once.

Inter host Coritiba on Tuesday. Another win would bring Baptista level with Paulo Pezzolano’s total of three home victories in the Brasileirão. During Pezzolano’s 14 matches in charge at Beira-Rio, Inter also recorded five draws and six defeats, scoring 16 goals and conceding 16. The team’s home win rate in that period was 33.3%, compared with 100% under Baptista so far.

Improving their home form is important to Inter’s bid to avoid relegation. The club’s plan is to win its three remaining home matches: against Coritiba, then Vitória and Bragantino. Taking all nine points would bring Inter to 44, a total described as sufficient to secure their place in Série A.

Inter’s poor home performances earlier in the season were among the factors that left the team fighting to stay up.
