Coritiba interim coach Guilherme Bossle defended Rodrigo Moledo after the defender conceded a stoppage-time penalty in the 1-0 defeat to Internacional in the 34th round of the Brasileirão at Beira-Rio. Alerrandro converted the spot kick to secure the win for Internacional.

Bossle said the coaching staff had not spoken to Moledo immediately after the match in Porto Alegre because the defender underwent anti-doping testing and did not join the post-match dressing room. The coach said the incident would be handled internally, adding that the team stood together in both wins and losses.

Moledo was penalized after raising his leg and catching Juninho when the ball was no longer in play. The defeat leaves Coritiba on 42 points, without having secured their place in Série A. They have four games remaining against Santos, Bahia, Flamengo and Palmeiras.

Bossle said Coritiba were aiming to reach the points total they believe will secure their top-flight status for 2027. He expressed confidence that the team would stay in Série A, pointing to their effort and commitment, and said they could earn the points they need if they continued competing at the same level.

The interim coach praised Coritiba’s first-half performance, saying the team followed its plan, created a clear scoring opportunity and built attacks through possession and forward progress. He said the side’s level dropped after the break, when Internacional pressed higher, and linked the change partly to the team’s recovery time after playing on Saturday.
