Vila Nova will be without midfielder João Vieira for Saturday’s decisive Série B match against Criciúma. The game is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Estádio Onésio Brasileiro Alvarenga in Goiânia.
Vieira was sent off in Vila Nova’s previous match against Juventude and will serve an automatic suspension. He has scored three goals and provided five assists in 31 league appearances this season.
Vila Nova are third with 63 points. To earn direct promotion to Série A, they must win their last two matches and hope results go against rivals Novorizontino, on 67 points, and Juventude, on 65.
Both remaining games are against teams competing near the top of the table. Criciúma are fourth with 62 points, and Vila Nova will then travel to face fifth-placed Fortaleza, who also have 62.
