Nacional-AM has begun planning for the 2027 season by agreeing to sign midfielder Gabriel Henrique. The 28-year-old is set to reinforce the club’s squad after spending the 2025/26 campaign with Chiangrai United in Thailand.

Gabriel made 30 appearances for the Thai club, providing two assists and scoring no goals. He will return to Brazilian football after two seasons abroad. His most recent team in Brazil was Itabaiana, from Sergipe, where he played between 2024 and 2025, making 20 appearances and scoring once.

The midfielder developed in Cruzeiro’s youth system and won both the Brazilian Super Cup and the Brazilian Under-20 Championship during his time at the Minas Gerais club. After leaving Cruzeiro, he played for several teams from the interior of Minas Gerais, including Valeriodoce, Betim, Aymorés, Araxá, Boa Esporte and Unaí. With Aymorés, he won the Minas Gerais Second Division title.

Gabriel also represented Ceilândia and Brasiliense in the Federal District, as well as Goianésia in Goiás.

His signing is part of Nacional-AM’s preparations for a season that will include the Amazonense Championship, the Copa do Brasil, the Copa Norte and the Brazilian Serie C. The club has already appointed Luan Carlos, formerly of Rio Verde, as its head coach.

In 2027, Nacional-AM will return to Brazil’s third tier after a 20-year absence. The club secured promotion this season by defeating CSA in the Serie D playoff.
