Memphis Depay says he is ready to return to action for Corinthians after recovering from swelling in his right hamstring. The forward is available for Wednesday’s Brazilian Championship match against São Paulo, with the teams set to meet at Vila Belmiro in the 34th round.
Speaking at the Joaquim Grava training centre on Tuesday, Depay said he had discussed a plan for his return with the coaching staff. He has not played for two weeks and said the coach would decide how much time he could spend on the pitch.
“I’m ready to play,” Depay said. “I’ll give what I can, as much as my body allows.” He added that he had recovered well from the injury and felt ready to contribute through the end of the season.
Depay also described his return to training after a period away from the team following the World Cup, saying he had needed time to resume training. He said he was optimistic about Corinthians’ future and credited the club’s supporters with giving the team strength, adding that he wanted to help improve the situation.
