Comercial has begun planning its squad for the 2027 Série A4 Paulista under new football manager Ricardo Guedes. He said the process is underway despite recent changes to the club’s football department and the structure of its planned Sociedade Anônima do Futebol (SAF), and that recruitment is not starting from scratch.
The club is speaking with intermediaries and reviewing potential players alongside the coaching staff led by Valmir Israel. Guedes said discussions are recent and that no signings have been agreed. He also said the club is checking its existing contractual commitments and squad needs before making decisions.
Guedes stressed that recruitment should be based on a player’s record and assessments of health and performance, rather than video or reputation. He said the club needs to use its financial resources carefully and avoid mistakes in building the squad.
With previous experience at clubs including Itabirito, Patrocinense and Atlético-MG, Guedes identified Minas Gerais’ second division as a potential source of players. The competition has an under-23 age limit, similar to Série A4 Paulista rules, which allow a maximum of five players over 23 on the field per match. Guedes said watching players in person is important to assessing them.
Comercial is scheduled to begin preseason training on December 1 at Palma Travassos stadium. Its Série A4 Paulista opener is scheduled for February 14, 2027.
