The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) will not make public the VAR audio or referees’ discussions from Palmeiras’ 1-0 win over Vasco in the first leg of the Copa do Brasil semifinals on Sunday. The review included a disputed moment when Palmeiras defender Barboza handled the ball inside the penalty area.

The incident came in the fourth minute of the second half. Referee Anderson Daronco ruled that there was no infringement, and VAR did not recommend an on-field review. PC Oliveira, a refereeing analyst for Grupo Globo, said the referee should have awarded a penalty.

The CBF said it will share its assessment of the officials’ performance directly with the two clubs at its regular weekly meeting. Since July, the refereeing committee has used a process that gives it up to 10 days to respond to club complaints and classifies cases by urgency. The confederation has said that submissions would be assessed in full.

Vasco’s protests continued after the match. Club president Pedrinho spoke to Daronco in the stadium tunnels and reenacted Barboza’s movement, while football director Admar Lopes described the refereeing as “shameful” and singled out the VAR officials.

Vasco also objected to the second yellow card shown to defender Saldivia, which led to his dismissal and rules him out of the return leg at São Januário next Sunday. Daronco’s match report said Saldivia was booked for holding an opponent and stopping a promising attack. It also recorded a complaint by football director Felipe to the fourth official, but made no mention of the possible penalty incident.
