The Brazilian Padel League begins Wednesday in Balneário Camboriú, with more than 1,000 athletes confirmed and R$1 million in prize money. The competition runs through Saturday, using the Expocentro and courts at partner clubs around the city. It brings together professional and amateur players.

The first stage will be played across 33 courts, with more than 500 pairs competing. League director Jaison Correa said the event’s scale reflects growing interest in padel, adding that around three to four courts are being installed each day in Brazil.

Of the total prize pool, R$730,000 is allocated to professional categories and R$270,000 to amateur divisions, including Under-18 and second- through fifth-category events. In the men’s professional competition, the winning pair will receive R$262,500; the women’s champions will earn R$100,000.

Padel player Orlando Luz said the league’s prize money could encourage more people to take the sport seriously. In amateur categories, organizers plan to offer equal prize money to men and women.
