Wanna Brito threw 29.41 metres in the F32 club throw at the Uzbekistan Para Athletics Open Championships 2026 in Tashkent, setting a personal best and moving to second in the world rankings for the event.

The result surpassed her previous best of 28.98m, recorded in April 2025 at the Brazilian Paralympic Training Centre in São Paulo. That earlier mark remains the Americas record because the 29.41m throw in Uzbekistan did not meet World Para Athletics requirements for record ratification, including anti-doping procedures.

Only Poland’s Roza Kozakowska ranks ahead of Brito, with 30m. Brazil’s Giovanna Boscolo placed second in the Tashkent event with 26.35m, while Uzbekistan’s Maxliyo Akramova finished third with 22.98m.

Brito also won the F32 shot put with a throw of 8.33m. She came close to her 8.49m world record, set at the 2025 World Championships in New Delhi. Boscolo took silver with 5.74m, and Uzbekistan’s Farangizbonu Yoldasheva won bronze with 4.62m.

The competition runs through Wednesday, November 4, and forms part of preparations for the 2027 World Para Athletics Championships, scheduled to take place in Tashkent from June 19 to 27. Brito won silver in the shot put at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games and is a two-time world champion in the event.
