Fans of Tenerife gathered to pay tribute to Jesús de Miguel after the forward died at the age of 30. The tributes followed a serious incident during the club’s match against Andorra/">FC Andorra in Spain’s second division.
De Miguel collided with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono late in Monday’s game. He received treatment on the pitch, was taken away by ambulance and transported to hospital.
Tenerife said the player’s neurological condition had worsened before confirming his death on Tuesday morning. The club expressed its condolences to his family, friends and supporters.
