Sampaio Corrêa has reached an agreement to sign right-back Rafael Baiano for the 2027 season. The player faced the Maranhão club in this year’s Série D of the Brazilian Championship while representing Trem, contributing to the team’s elimination of Sampaio from the competition.

The parties are waiting for documents to be exchanged before the contract can be formally signed. Sampaio is expected to announce the transfer after the remaining administrative procedures are completed.

Rafael Baiano is set to strengthen Sampaio’s defense. The defender has played for several Brazilian clubs, particularly in the North and Northeast regions, including Trem, Independente-AP, Ypiranga-AP, Santos-AP, São Caetano, Araguaína, Tocantinópolis and Ji-Paraná.

In 2026, he represented Trem and Ji-Paraná. His career also includes spells with clubs from Amapá and Tocantins, as well as participation in regional competitions.

The signing is part of Sampaio Corrêa’s planning for 2027. The club is scheduled to compete in the Campeonato Maranhense, Série D and Copa do Brasil. The squad presentation is set for November 30, when preparations for the new season are also due to begin.

Rafael Baiano joins a group of players already linked to Sampaio’s 2027 plans. Jardson, Raynon, Felipinho and Eric Carral have existing contracts, while Adriano is tied to the club through November 2028. Joécio, Warllem Mateus and Dudu have agreements but have not yet been officially announced. Felipe Cauã remains under contract until December 2027 but is not expected to stay.
