Salgueiro surrendered a two-goal lead and lost 3-2 to FácilNet on Sunday in the Turno Forró of the Pernambuco Championship. The result left the Carcará still without a win in the competition, but the team remains in control of its qualification hopes ahead of the decisive round in Group Sertão.

Coach Emerson Matheus said his side dominated the first half and failed to maintain the same intensity after the interval. He also pointed to two goals conceded from aerial set pieces as a major factor in the turnaround, despite the team having worked extensively on that aspect in training.

According to the coach, the equalizer had a significant psychological impact. Salgueiro’s performance declined, the team allowed FácilNet to control the midfield and could not regain balance. Matheus said the players lacked the personality needed to respond after the match was level.

Salgueiro now turns its attention to a decisive match next Sunday against Afogados. The Carcará are fourth in the group with two points, while Afogados occupy third place. A win would guarantee Salgueiro a place in the top four, regardless of the result between 1º de Maio and Ferroviário, who have one point each.

Matheus said the team still has realistic chances of progressing and will use the week to rebuild the players’ confidence before seeking three points away from home.
