Stefano Pioli expects a demanding contest when Milan face Atalanta in Bergamo, describing the fixture as an important test for two teams aiming to compete for a Champions League place. He said Milan need to find greater consistency in their results.

Rafael Leao has not recovered from his injury and will not be called up. Simon Kjaer and Noah Okafor are also unavailable. Pioli said Kjaer is feeling better but still needs to regain his fitness.

Ismaël Bennacer recently returned to action with a brief appearance against Frosinone. Pioli praised the midfielder’s recovery but said he needs time before he is back to full fitness, adding that he expects Bennacer to become a starter again once he is ready.

Pioli also discussed Luka Jovic, who scored in Milan’s previous match. He praised the striker’s talent and quality, but said he needs to improve his intensity to take the next step. On Rade Krunic, Pioli pointed to a dip in condition and said some teammates are currently in better shape.

The coach singled out Charles De Ketelaere as an Atalanta player to watch, noting that he has started well in a more attacking role. Pioli said Milan’s minimum target is fourth place, while insisting the team can aim higher and must remain competitive in both Serie A and Europe.
