Matheus Bianqui scored a spectacular bicycle kick as Novorizontino defeated Operário-PR 2-1 in the 36th round of Brazil’s Série B. The result leaves the club one win away from securing promotion to the Campeonato Brasileiro’s top division for the first time.

Nicolas Careca opened the scoring before Bianqui quickly extended Novorizontino’s lead with his acrobatic finish at the Jorjão stadium. The midfielder has now scored eight goals in 41 appearances this season, making him the fourth-highest scorer in the squad in 2026.

Bianqui said he was pleased to contribute, but stressed that the victory mattered more than his goal. He added that scoring while the team was ahead helped raise confidence during the match. Bianqui joined Novorizontino on loan from Coritiba in January and is under contract through the end of the 2026 season.

Careca’s opener was also a milestone: it was Novorizontino’s 100th goal of the season. The 29-year-old has scored three times in 29 appearances for the club. He said the home win was important to the promotion push and noted that two matches remained.

Novorizontino can secure promotion in its next fixture, at home against Fortaleza. A win would be enough to send the club to Brazil’s top flight.
