Marcinho Guerreiro has begun working with Altos’ directors on plans for the 2027 season, including recruitment and the composition of the squad. The coach said initial contacts with players started after he agreed to take charge and would reflect the club’s financial limits.

Guerreiro said he was pleased to accept an invitation from honorary president Warton Lacerda and return to Piauí. He added that the players being approached understand the club’s circumstances and are interested in the opportunity to join the project.

The provisional plan is for pre-season training to start on November 30. Guerreiro is expected to meet the directors in person to discuss logistics, facilities and squad-building, with his arrival in Piauí scheduled for November 6. The Piauiense Championship is expected to begin on January 9, leaving Altos with less than a month of preparation before the competition starts.

Guerreiro said he wants a competitive, intense and fast team. He takes over after leading River-PI to promotion and the 2026 Piauiense Série B title. Altos have the state championship confirmed for 2027, while participation in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série D and Copa do Brasil is still subject to confirmation by the Brazilian Football Confederation.

Assistant coach Luccas Guerreiro and goalkeeper coach Luís Henrique are also set to join the staff. Altos have not yet announced when the squad will report or confirmed a replacement for football manager Márcio Ferreira, who has left the club.
