Vitória dismissed Jair Ventura on Monday after a run of four consecutive Brasileirão matches without a victory. The decision came two days after the team lost 2–0 away to Coritiba in the 33rd round, leaving Vitória with 38 points, two more than Corinthians, the first club inside the relegation zone.

Ventura had been appointed by Vitória in September 2025. During his time at the club, he recorded 30 wins, 12 draws and 27 defeats in 69 matches, representing a 49% success rate. He helped the team avoid relegation to Série B and, in 2026, led Vitória to the Copa do Nordeste title, while the club finished runners-up in the Campeonato Baiano.

The coach’s dismissal followed a decline in the team’s league form. Vitória won only two of its last 10 matches and dropped to 14th place, remaining close to the relegation places.

Ventura is the 21st coach to leave a Série A club during the 2026 Brasileirão. The previous departures included Fernando Seabra from Coritiba, Fernando Diniz from Corinthians and Paulo Pezzolano from Internacional.

The season’s coaching turnover began in February, when Jorge Sampaoli was dismissed by Atlético-MG after a 3–3 draw with Remo. Other notable changes included Filipe Luís leaving Flamengo, Tite departing Cruzeiro, Juan Vojvoda leaving Santos and Dorival Júnior being dismissed by Corinthians.

Among the other coaches who have lost their jobs are Martín Anselmi at Botafogo, Gilmar Dal Pozzo at Chapecoense, Roger Machado at São Paulo, Renato Gaúcho at Vasco, Luis Zubeldía at Fluminense and Luís Castro at Grêmio.
