Inter are aiming to clear their injury list by the end of the year and give Simone Inzaghi a full squad again. Alessandro Bastoni is expected to be the first player to return, with Benjamin Pavard, Stefan de Vrij and Denzel Dumfries still working toward comebacks.
Bastoni has recovered from the calf injury he sustained while with Italy and has resumed full team training. He is expected to be available for Saturday’s match against Udinese, although after nearly three weeks out, he may start on the bench. A return to the starting lineup against Real Sociedad three days later is also possible.
Pavard has started running again after having his brace removed, without reporting pain or discomfort in the knee injury he suffered on November 5. His recovery is being handled cautiously, but Inter hope he could be available for the December 17 match against Lazio, or possibly the following week against Lecce. A return before the end of the year is expected, barring setbacks.
De Vrij and Dumfries will undergo further tests next week to assess the muscle problems they picked up against Napoli. De Vrij has discomfort in his left adductor, while Dumfries has an issue with the flexor in his left thigh. Both could be out for around 20 days, though their conditions will become clearer after the examinations. Inter hope they can return for the December 29 match against Genoa.
