Anastasios Douvikas is the Champions League’s leading scorer after netting three times in Como’s 9-1 victory over Lens in the fourth round. The Greek forward now has six goals in the competition, one more than Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Club Brugge’s Tresoldi, who have five each. He is also ahead of Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappé in the scoring standings.
The 27-year-old is playing in Europe’s leading club competition for the first time. He had scored in each of the previous three rounds before completing his hat-trick against Lens in the second half.
Born in Tripoli, Greece, Douvikas began his career at Asteras Tripolis and also played for Volos before moving to the Netherlands. He emerged at Utrecht and later joined Como, the Italian club coached by Cesc Fàbregas.
“I’m very happy to be leading the scoring. We want to keep this going in the next match. My teammates help me a lot,” Douvikas told Sky Sports after the game.
The win took Como to nine points and fourth place in the league phase. The team has three wins and one defeat from four matches and is currently in a direct qualification position for the Champions League round of 16.
