Manchester United goalkeeper Dermot Mee and Portsmouth forward Eoin Kenny have received their first call-ups to the Northern Ireland senior squad for November’s final Nations League fixtures against Ukraine and Hungary.
Mee, 23, previously represented Northern Ireland at youth level. Although he has not played competitively for Manchester United this season, he joins the squad to provide competition for first-choice goalkeeper Pierce Charles.
Kenny, 20, moved to Portsmouth from Dundalk in July and has made one league appearance for the Championship club. He is the son of former Republic of Ireland manager Stephen Kenny. His call-up comes as Dion Charles, Eoin Toal and goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell leave the squad.
Northern Ireland will also be without injured Sunderland defender Dan Ballard and midfielders Ali McCann and Jamie McDonnell. Liverpool defender Conor Bradley remains a long-term absentee and has not played since January.
Michael O’Neill’s side lead League B2 unbeaten and have yet to concede a goal in this Nations League campaign. They can secure promotion to League A by finishing top of the group, which would also put them close to a play-off place for Euro 2028.
Northern Ireland host Ukraine at Windsor Park on 14 November before travelling to Hungary for their final match on 17 November. The team’s recent results include a 3-0 win over Ukraine, a late victory against Georgia and goalless draws with Hungary and Georgia.
