Daniel Penha has cast doubt on his future at Avaí after the team’s 1-0 defeat to Náutico on Saturday. Speaking to CBN Floripa, the midfielder thanked the club for its support during the season but said he was unsure whether he would continue with the team or where he would play next.

“I don’t know what the future will be like. I will be eternally grateful for everything Avaí has done. I don’t know if I will continue or where I will go, but from the bottom of my heart, I love Avaí,” Penha said.

The midfielder also described the physical difficulties faced by the squad during the final stage of the campaign. According to Penha, at least eight or nine players were playing while receiving injections or taking medication, despite being in pain, as they fought to keep Avaí in Série B.

Penha said the group was also under significant psychological pressure and suggested that some players might not want to continue until the end of the season. He was replaced at halftime against Náutico after feeling pain in his lower back.

Alongside Jean Lucas, Penha has been one of Avaí’s leading players this season, particularly after Thayllon’s departure. He is the team’s top scorer with 11 goals and has provided six assists, the second-highest total in the squad. Jean Lucas leads Avaí in direct goal contributions, with eight goals and 12 assists.

Daniel Penha is contracted to Atlético-MG and remains on loan at Avaí until December.

Avaí’s next fixtures are against São Bernardo at Ressacada on November 7 and América-MG at Independência on November 14.
