Botafogo-SP will finish the Série B season with its competitive situation already settled, but the club still has a clear target for the final two rounds: surpass its points record in the competition’s points-based era. The team currently has 48 points and has gone five matches unbeaten, with four wins and one draw during that run.
A victory in either of the remaining games would take Botafogo-SP beyond its previous record of 50 points, set in 2019. The first opportunity comes on Thursday, when the team hosts already relegated Londrina in Ribeirão Preto. It will be Botafogo-SP’s final home appearance of the season. If the target is not reached, the team will face Juventude away on the 14th in the final round.
Coach Cláudio Tencati believes reaching the mark would help make Botafogo-SP more attractive to the players who stay and to potential reinforcements for 2027. Tencati is under contract through the end of next season and said the club can benefit from having an established methodology and playing style, as well as a group already familiar with its environment.
The coach also pointed to his previous work at Londrina and Criciúma as examples of how continuity can produce stronger results in a subsequent season. At Londrina, his teams improved their points total from 60 to 62, while Criciúma reached 56 points before earning promotion the following season. In his view, maintaining a core of key players can make the next campaign more successful.
Botafogo-SP finished ninth in the Paulista Championship, one place outside the qualification zone. The team now hopes to close its Série B campaign positively and use that progress as a platform for the 2027 season.
